Personal Residence
Hygge Residence
This renovation reimagines a compact timber-frame home through a balance of architectural clarity and lived-in warmth. Inspired by the spatial principles of Frank Lloyd Wright and the ethos of Scandinavian living, the design creates a calm, cohesive environment rooted in comfort and simplicity.

Working within a constrained footprint of angled walls, the layout was refined to improve flow, light, and spatial continuity. Interior partitions were minimized to open sightlines and enhance the connection between spaces. A new loft level above the kitchen transforms unused volume into a flexible workspace, engaging directly with the exposed timber structure. Key areas, including the kitchen, entry, and service spaces, were reconfigured to support both daily living and hosting. Materiality defines the project. Swiss spruce laminated timber, custom millwork, and a restrained palette emphasize texture, craftsmanship, and warmth, while a low-waste approach reinforces a commitment to longevity. The result is a compact yet expressive home where structure, atmosphere, and everyday living come together seamlessly. Completed 2021
